Jean Maxwell, 93, Highlands, NC.


Eugenia Gilbert Maxwell, 93 years old, died on August 8, 2011 at the Eckerd Center in Highlands NC. She was the widow of Tom Maxwell, who started radio station WIBB in Macon GA In 1948. Jean and Tom were married for 59 years when he passed away in 1998.
Jean will be greatly missed by her family. She was almost always cheerful and tended to make the best of any situation. She was a wise steward of all resources and as a “depression baby” was never known to waste anything. Besides raising her children and taking care of her home and husband her passion was to play golf at Idle Hour, where she served as Ladies Golf Association President; and to play competitive bridge. She is survived by two daughters and a son in law: Sharon Meyerson and Glenda and Griffin Bell Jr,. Her five grandchildren are Griffin Bell III, Katherine McClure, Stephanie Train, Sissy Spiers, and Robert Train III. She is also the great grandmother of twelve children.
Services will be held at the Eckerd Living Center on Sunday, August 14, at 3:00 P.M.
