James Ricky “Big Rick” Holcomb, 53, 0f Clayton, Ga. died Tuesday, November 24, 2009 in St Mary’s Hospital in Athens, Ga.
Born in Rabun County June 29, 1956, he was the son of Ruth Hamilton Holcomb Grant of Clayton and the late Bobby Lee Holcomb. He was a carpenter in the building industry, a U.S. Army Veteran and was a member of the Carvers Chapel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a son Chris Holcomb and by a sister, Bobby Jean Weaver, and is survived by his wife, Rita V. Holcomb, of Clayton; his mother, Ruth H. Grant of Clayton; by two brothers, Lee Holcomb of Tiger and Bobby Holcomb of Tallulah Falls.
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends Thursday night November 26, 2009 from 6 to 8 P.M. The body will be cremated and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
The family is at the home of his brother, Lee Holcomb on Syrup City Rd., Tiger, Ga.
