James H. (Babe) Ramey, 82, Clayton, Ga.
James H. (Babe) Ramey, 82, of the Five Points Community, husband of Joyce Wood Ramey of sixty-one years, died Friday April 25, 2008 at his home.
Born in Rabun County, June 11, 1925. He was the son of the late Henry W. and Mona Wooten Ramey. He was a carpenter and builder, a U.S. Army Veteran of the World War II and was a member of the Chechero Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Joyce Wood Ramey of the home; Three sons and two daughters-in-law- James (Tort) Ramey, Ronald (Boyman) and Carla Ramey, Michael (Toddy) and Elaine Ramey all of Clayton, GA. ; Three daughters and two sons-in-law- Noreen (Lucy) Jacobs, Cecila (Teeter) and Cecil Davis, all of Clayton, GA. and Margaret (Suzy) and Troy Smith of Rabun Gap, GA.; Three sisters- Irene Crone and Annie Mae Rogers of Clayton, GA. and Wylene Wall of Otto, NC. Eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Plus an extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Dock Ramey and a sister Magdalene Gibson.
Funeral Services will be Monday April 28, 2008, at 2:30, at the Chechero Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Wilson and Rev. Mickey Woods officiating. Burial will be in the Rabun Memory Park Cemetery with Laymon Lloyd Hunter conducting the graveside service.
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends from 7 to 9 PM Sunday night April 27, 2008. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 PM Monday to Lie in State. The family is at the home on Babe Ramey Road in the Five Points Community, Clayton, GA.
