Irene Beck Smith, 89, of Saw Mill Lane, Tiger, GA died Wednesday night May 29, 2013 at her residence. She was the widow of James Sherman Smith.

Born in The Warwoman Community of Rabun County, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Laura Dockins Beck. She was retired from the textile industry and was a homemaker. She was a member of Battle Branch Baptist Church.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by three brothers Clyde, Paul and Herman Beck, and is survived by sons, David A. Smith (Michelle) of Cartersville, GA and Clay Smith of Clayton. Three daughters, Gail Brewer (Finance’, Ken Sewell) and Linda Watts (Luther) of Tiger, GA and Lynn Talley (Jason) of Wiley, GA. Two brothers, Kenneth Beck and Curtis Beck of Clayton, one sister, Gennie White of New Providence, PA, seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be Saturday June 1, 2013 at Battle Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Madison McCracken officiating with Layman Lloyd Hunter conducting graveside service.

The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends Friday evening May 31, 2013 from 6 to 8 PM.

The body will be placed in the church at 10:00 AM Saturday June 1, 2013 to lie in state. The family is at the home on Saw Mill Lane in the Bridge Creek Community Tiger, GA.
