Icie Gragg Hamilton 66, Tiger, Ga
Icie Gragg Hamilton, 66, of Rocky Top Lane Tiger, Ga., died Saturday morning November 14, 2009 in Mountain Lakes Medical Center.
Born in Habersham County, Georgia March 8, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Avery and Hallie Kennedy Gragg. She was elected to the Rabun County Tax Commissioners office as Tax Commissioner, and served for 28 years after being the first woman elected to public office in Rabun County. She was a Faithful Member of Battle Branch Baptist Church for 42 years. She never mistreated anyone. She helped people in Rabun County (and others) for years and loved all the people she served. She will receive rewards for all she has done and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Dolly Gragg and by two brothers, Dock Gragg and Glenn Gragg and is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Lori Green and Jim and Jennifer Green, all of Tiger, Georgia; one brother, Knox Gragg of Tiger, one sister, Kitty Cantrell of Tiger. Seven grandchildren: Emily, Clinton, Avery, Isabella, Icie, Andrea, and Elijah Green, along with several other distant relatives.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday November 17, 2009 at the Rocky Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Madison McCrackin, Rev. Bill Gravley officiating. Rev. John Gipson will conduct the graveside service. Burial will be in the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in the Batesville community in Habersham County.
The body is at Hunter Funeral home and will be taken to the Rocky Grove Baptist Church Monday November 16, 2009 where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 pm.
The family is at the home of her sister, Kitty Cantrell on Rocky Top Lane in the Bridge Creek community, RT 1, Tiger.
