Helen Ruth Burrell Childers 91, Clayton


Helen Ruth Burrell Childers, 91, of Laurel Heights Lane, Clayton GA., died Tuesday March 25, 2008 at Mountain Lakes Medical Center, Clayton, GA. She was the widow of Fred Allen Childers, Sr.
Born in Rabun County, she was the daughter of the late Virgil M. Burrell, Sr. and Leila Cannon Burrell. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Eastern Star (OES) and was a member of the Clayton Baptist Church where she spent many years in the Fidelis Sunday School class.
She was preceded in death by two brothers; V. M. Burrell, Jr. and Dick Burrell and by three sisters: Myrtice McClure, Olabelle Scruggs, and Dorothy Church, and by a great grandson; Morgan Grist.
She is survived by: two sons and daughters-in-law; Allen and Velma Childers of Clayton and Bob and Shirley Childers of Albany, GA. Two daughters and sons-in-laws; Mary Ann and Al Whittington of Clayton and Helen Garland of Dalton, GA. One sister; Mary Burrell Shedd of Clayton. Thirteen grandchildren, Twenty-three great grand children and three great great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 A. M. Friday March 28, 2008 at the Clayton Baptist Church with Layman Lloyd officiating. Burial will be in Rabun Memory Park. The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Thursday March 27, 2008. The body will be placed in the church at 10:00 A.M. Friday to Lie in State. The family is at the home on Laurel Heights Lane in Clayton.
