Harry Jeffery "Jay" Holt, passed away on December 6, 2024. Born on May 11, 1959, to the late Morris Wesley Holt and Hazel Dickerson Holt.
Jay grew up in Rabun County, he attended Rabun County High School and graduated from Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School in 1977, having been a proud member of the Varsity Basketball team. Following high school, Jay embarked on a life of service by enlisting in the United States Army. Over the course of seven years, he served honorably in Germany, Texas, and with the 7th Infantry Division at Fort Ord, California, exemplifying commitment and integrity.
Jay later transitioned to a career as Assistant Manager at Winn-Dixie grocery store. Outside of his professional endeavors, Jay was a remarkably talented, self-taught painter. With no formal training, he possessed an uncanny ability to capture the essence of his subjects in his portraits, leaving behind a legacy of artistic beauty and heartfelt expression.
Jay is survived by two brothers, David L. Holt of Mountain City, GA and John Holt (Kathy) of Statesboro, GA; one niece, Rebecca Holt Hickman (Rhett) of Statesboro, GA; one nephew, Ethan Holt of Statesboro; two great nephews, Liam and Landon Hickman; and also, several aunts and cousins also survive.
