Harry Brown

Harry G. Brown, Jr., 88, of Harry Brown Lane Dillard, Georgia., died Tuesday July 30, 2013 at his home.

Born in Rabun County June 24, 1925, he was the son of the late Harry G. Brown Sr., and Marinda Smart Brown. He was retired from Burlington Industries after 31 years of services and was a member of Woodmen of the World, AARP, ARC, People First Group and attended North Georgia Tech, Clarkesville, Georgia., and was a member of the Dillard United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents and by two brothers; Joseph Edwin Brown and Kenneth Ezekiel Brown and by a nephew, Boyd Youngblood, raised in the home, who was killed in Vietnam.

He is survived by his wife Estelle Youngblood Brown of the home: by daughters Rebecca Brown Cope (Jerry) of Otto, North Carolina, Rachel Brown Davis (Alan) of Lilburn, GA., Judy Brown Plant (Jerry) of Dacula, GA., by sons, Benny Joe Brown (Dorothy) of Dewy Rose, GA., Daniel Albert Brown (Brenda) and William Ernest Brown (Pamelet) of Dillard, GA. Fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 A.M. Friday August 2, 2013 at the Dillard United Methodist Church with Rev. Doug Volk, Rev. James E. Turpen and Rev. Charles Effird officiating. Burial will follow in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery with Military Honors. Serving as pallbearers will be Marty Cope, Philip Davis, Jeremy Plant, Clint Woods, Jacob Brown and Jeremy Cope.

The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends Thursday August 1, 2013 from 6 to 8 P.M. the family is at the home on Harry Brown Lane, Dillard, Georgia. Family asks in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made in his honor to the Dillard United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O Box 463 Dillard GA. 30537.
