Gus Daniel (Danny) Runion, 62 of Mountain City, Georgia, died Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Braselton, GA.

Born May 12, 1956, he was the son of the late Thomas D. Runion and Ethel Hopper. He was a US Army veteran and a factory worker. He was a member of Blue Heights Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Ethel, and is survived by his wife Virgie Ann Smith Runion of the home. He is also survived by a son, Roger Dale Shears, Jr of Mountain City, two daughters, Sue Runion of Murphy, NC, and Cecelia Runion of Murphy, NC, by four brothers, Ernest Runion of Mountain City, Tommy Giles of Clayton, Glenn Giles of Tiger, and Sam Giles of Rabun Gap. Three grandchildren, Meghan, Cole and Tucker also survive.

Funeral services will be Friday, June 8, 2018 at 2:00pm at Blue Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Teddy King officiating. Burial to follow at Blue Heights Baptist Cemetery.

The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends Thursday June 7, 2018 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. The body will be placed in the church to lie in state from 1:00pm to 2:00pm, the funeral hour. The family is at the home on Electric Ave., Mountain City, GA.
