Grover (Red) Welch, 71, Clayton, Georgia


Grover (Red) Welch, 71, of Jiles Drive, Clayton, Georgia died Tuesday evening May 10, 2011 at his home.
Born in Clayton, Georgia May 5, 1940 he was the son of the late Bill and Irene McCloud Welch. He was a carpenter by trade and was a U.S. army veteran of the Korean War era. He was of the Baptist Faith, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
He was preceded in death by four brothers, J.B. Welch, F.D. Welch, Wayne Welch and Kenneth Welch and by one sister, Marie Welch Woods, and is survived by two sons; Terry Welch and his wife, Carmen of Clayton, GA., and by Troy Welch and his wife, Sarita of Eureka, Montana. Two daughters, Tami Abernathy and her husband Butch of Demorest, GA., and Tonya Welch Lloyd of Clayton, GA. One brother, his twin, Beadie Welch of Clayton, GA. Four Sisters, Elise Eller of Cartersville, GA., Frankie Mae Welch, Sarah Jean Harrison and Cynthia Welch all of Clayton, GA. Six grandchildren and six great grandchildren, and several nephews nieces and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. Friday May 13, 2011 at the Chechero Baptist Church, with Rev. Madison McCrackin officiating. Burial will be in the Welch Family Cemetery on Leafwood Lane Clayton, Georgia.
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends Thursday night May 12, 2011 from 6 To 8 P.M. The body will be placed in the Church at 12:00 P.M. to lie in state.
The family is at the residence of his son, Terry Welch on Piedmont Lane Clayton, Georgia in the Chechero Community.
Hunter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
