Glenn Hopkins

On Thursday March 7, 2013 G.C. “Rip” Hopkins, 81, of Hopkins, Lane in the Bridgecreek Community of Tiger, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord . He had been in the V.A. Medical Center Decatur, Georgia, for some time. Rip was the husband of Virginia Bleckley Hopkins.

Born in Tiger, Georgia., September 11, 1931 he was the son of the late Jesse Jefferson and Lassie Craig Hopkins. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 220. Through the years “Rip” has been a carpenter; he was also a farmer and grew apples for a living. He loved working in his apple orchard and took pride in his apples. He was also well known at Virginia’s Kitchen where he helped operate and run the family business. “Rip” loved his family, treasured his friends, and his grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of his life.

He was preceded in death besides his parents by three brothers, Howard “Buck”, William Avery “Bill” and Arvil Sutton “Poke” Hopkins. He is survived by his loving wife Virginia Bleckley Hopkins of the home. Two sons, Glenn Douglas and wife Michelle Hopkins of Clayton, GA., And Ricky Anthony Hopkins of Tiger, GA., one brother, Richard “Penny” Hopkins of Clayton., three sisters, Cona Mae Grimshaw of Locust, Grove, Dorothy Kilby of the Persimmon Community and Mary Ann Sisson of Blue Ridge, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren several nephews, nieces and cousins also survive.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00P.M. Sunday March 10, 2013 in the new Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Cannon and Max Watts officiating. Burial will be in the Rocky Grove Cemetery with military honors in the Bridge Creek Community Tiger, Georgia.

The body is at the new Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home where visitation will be from 6 to 8 P.M. Saturday March 9, 2013. The family is at the home on Hopkins Lane in the Bridge Creek Community Georgia.

Hunter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
