George Clifford Smith Sr. , 81 , of Tiger , Ga. died Friday November 28 , 2008 in Athens Regional , Athens , Ga.
Born in Rabun County , Georgia June 18 , 1927 , He was the son of the late Virgil J. and Ellen Ryan Smith .He was the husband of Sarah Gravley Smith . He was a Piano Tuner . He was a member of the Joy Baptist Church for 65 plus years . He was a member of the Georgia Council of the Blind .
He was preceded in death by brothers, Ed, Jack , Curtis , Lewis and Robert Smith and by one sister, Gladys Stancil and is survived by his wife , Sarah Smith of the home and by Three sons and daughters – in – law ; George C. and Debbie Smith of Russellville , Ark., Joe and Whitney Smith of Clayton , Ga. , Steve and Esther Smith of Clayton , Ga. One brother , Earl Smith of Lakemont , Ga. and by eight grandchildren ; Kayte , Tori , Nathanael , Timothy , Andy , Terri , David and Jeremiah Smith , one great grandchild , Madison Corte and several nephews , nieces and cousins also survive .
Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday December 2 , 2008 at the Joy Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Goss and Rev. Steve Smith officiating .
Burial will be in the Church Cemetery .
The body is at the Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends from 7 to 9 P.M. Monday Night December 1, 2008 .
The body will be placed in the church at 10:00 A.M. to lie in state .
The family is at the home on Saga Mtn. Road , Tiger,Ga.
