Gene McCarthy 84, Tiger , Ga.


Cooledge Eugene “Gene” McCarthy,84, of Tiger, Georgia died Monday March 30, 2009 in Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Ga.
He was born in Michigan on October 19, 1924 to the late George Eugene McCarthy and Rose Kirby McCarthy. He worked as a Taxi driver for Cunningham Taxi Co.
Gene was preceded in death by his wife; Blanche Ramey McCarthy and by one son; Richard McCarthy and one step-son, Alvin Vinson.
Surviving him is two sons and one daughter-in-law George McCarthy of Columbia, South Carolina and Amory Martin and his wife, Beth , Tiger, Georgia , six step-sons, Allen Vinson, Avery Vinson, Archie Vinson, Jimmy Hunter, Ronnie Hunter, Bobby Joe Hunter, five daughters and two son-in-laws; Rose Lee McCarthy of New York , Jan Ferguson and her husband Larry , Tiger, Ga., Joyce Ann Ashburn , Clayton , Ga., Mary Joe Conner, Gastonia, North Carolina and Angelia Taylor and her husband Clinton of Lakemont, Ga., one step-daughter , Aleta Vinson Baker , thirty-four grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday April 1, 2009 at two O’clock P.M. in the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Cannon officiating. Burial will follow in Rabun Memory Park .
The body is at the Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends on Tuesday night, March 31, 2009 from 6 to 8 P.M. The family is at the home on Billy Watts Cove Rd. off of the Charlie Mtn. Rd.
