Ernest Dale (Ernie) Payne, 57, Lakemont, Georgia


Ernest Dale (Ernie) Payne, 57 of Lakemont, Georgia, died Monday November 1, 2010 in North East Georgia Medical Center.
Born in Gastonia North Carolina, he was the son of the late Ernest Walker Payne and Wanda Corn Payne. Ernie was a supervisor in the electrical and plastics industry with the Solvay Corporation. He was a member of the Newman Chapel Baptist Church, Otto, NC.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charlie and Ethel Lamb Corn, who raised him and also two sisters, Patricia Martin and Sandra Martin, and is survived by his wife, Shelia Chappell Payne of the home; one son, Kirk Payne and his wife Holly of Lakemont; one daughter, Rebecca Payne of the home; one brother, John D. Martin and his wife Shery of Charlotte, NC., three sisters; Rhonda Banks of Fitzgerald, GA., Debra Johnson and her husband William of Supply, NC. and Davil Harris and her husband, Terry of Charlotte, NC. Two grandchildren, Jake and Beth. Several nephews, nieces and cousins also survive.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday November 4, 2010 at the Black Rock Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Ashe and Rev. Matt Shuler officiating. Burial will be in the Pickett Cemetery with Rev. Jim Green conducting the graveside service.
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends from 6 to 9 P.M. Wednesday November 3, 2010 and will be placed in the Church at 10:00 A.M. Thursday to lie in state.
The family is at the home on Ramey Road in Lakemont.
