E.M. Michalski 81, Clayton, GA
E.M. “Mike” Michalski, 81, of Clayton, passed away Friday, April 18, 2008 in the Mountain Lakes Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
Mike was born September 29, 1926 in West Orange, New Jersey to late Joseph and Katherine Michalski. He was a long time resident and business man in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Mike was a graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy serving aboard a tanker during WWIIfrom Japan, Philipine Islands, Iran, Australia, Panama, to the Hawaiian Islands. He was an outstanding athlete in football and track and field plus a scholastic star. Mike was inducted into the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy’s sports hall of fame in the fall of 1992 after Mikes phenomenal record was read as a tribute before a full regiment at attention. He was an awesome and avid golfer.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife Carol Swafford Michalski, second wife; J.J. Stegall Michalski, brothers; Stanley and Walter Michalski.
Mike leaves to grieve for him a niece; Maureen Michalski Salayko of New Jersey, his very much loved and loving friend; Doug Robinson of Clayton, GA., and Barbara Blockley of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
The body has been cremated and a visitation for friends and family will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2008 from 6 until 7 PM at Hunter Funeral Home.
