Elton Smith

October 5, 1925 — May 2, 2013

Elton Drew Smith, 87, of Flint Mtn. Lane, Rt. 1, Tiger, GA. died Thursday May 2, 2013 at his residence. Born in Rabun County Oct 5, 1925 he was the son of the late Jiles W. and Alda Belle Smith. He was the husband of Fairy Mae Eller.



Mr. Smith was a retired textile employee with Clarkesville Mills and also as a farmer. He was a WW 2 Veteran, having served in the US Coast Guard. He lived his whole life in Habersham and Rabun Counties, and was a member of Wolfcreek Baptist Church for many years.



He was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Smith and by 4 sisters, Ruth Mashburn, Jean Tyler, Virginia Smith and Martha Dover and is survived by his wife Fairy Mae Smith of the home. Two sons and a daughter-in-law, E. David Smith and wife Wanda of Tiger, GA and Donald L. Hamilton of the home. Three daughters, Janice S. Tatum and husband Chris of Clayton, GA., Cathy A. White and husband Danny of Tiger, GA., Lora A. Parker and husband Greg of Clayton, GA. A sister Wilma White and husband Bob of Ballground, GA. Seven grandchildren: Lacy Bowyer, Jessica Surls, Luke Smith, Dillon Parker, Alicia Kilby, Kallie White and Tristan Hooper and one great grandchild Katanna Bowyer.



Funeral services will be Sunday May 5, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Cannon and Layman Lloyd Hunter officiating. Burial will be in the Wolfcreek Cemetery with military honors. The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Saturday May 4, 2013. The family is at the home on Flint Mtn Lane off Wolfcreek Road.
