Edward Rogers

Edward Roland Rogers, 76, of Avalon Street Clayton, Georgia died Saturday March 9, 2013 at Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens Georgia.

Born in Hornersville, Missouri. August 23, 1936 he was the son of the late Willie J. and Eunice Eugene Cooper Rogers. He was a retired Letter Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service; owner and operator of Rogers Guitars in Stevensville, Michigan for 20 years; President of the Musicians Union, Benton Harbor Michigan Chapter; Band Leader of the Anchormen Dance Band, President of the Local (NARFE) National Association of Retired Federal Employees and attended Clayton Baptist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Joy Satterwhite Rogers of the home; son, Eddy Allen Rogers, Jr, of California; Daughter Ginger Haney and her Husband Ron Haney of Dahlonega; Son Matthew Kent Rogers and his Wife, Jennie Vitty Rogers of Marietta, GA; one surviving
Sister Alfreda Alexander of Tiger, GA; one Grandson Zachary Morse and his wife, Christine Thomas Morse; Granddaughter Mary Ann Haney Barnett and husband, Andrew Barnett; Granddaughter Elizabeth Haney; and his five great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins also survive.

Ed will forever be remembered by his devoted family along with countless other friends and family who were blessed to know him. Ed touched the lives of so many people with his sense of humor, his smile and a deep love of music. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service at the Clayton Baptist Church on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 11:00 AM conducted by Rev. Joey Thompson and Dr. Charles Blackstock.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a contribution be made to the Sid Weber Cancer Foundation or the charity of your choice.
