Edith W. Parker, 89, of Wolffork Church Road Rabun Gap, Georgia., died Saturday November 9, 2013 at her home.
She was born in Rabun County, February 12, 1924 to Raymond and Nova Moore Whitmire. She was twice married, first to Edward Burrell, who died in 1964 and later to Tom Parker who died in 1995. She had retired from Rabun Mills and was a homemaker. Mrs. Parker was a member of Wolffork Baptist Church for seventy five years, where she was a Sunday School Teacher for thirty eight years and was a very active member of the Women’s Missionary Union (WMU) and belonged to the Rabun Garden Club.
She was the last member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Ruth Lynn Burrell, and by brothers, Paul, Rex and Leslie Whitmire, and by a sister, Jean McClure. And is survived by two sons; Andy Burrell of Rabun Gap, GA., and by Wyle Burrell (Pam) of Rabun Gap. One daughter, Diane Burrell and partner Lisa Daniels, of McDonough, GA. Three grandchildren, Ed Burrell, Sean McGahee (Becky) and Louie Burrell; four great grandchildren, Kristopher Burrell, Amanda Emery, David McGahee and Jacob McGahee and one great great granddaughter, Sawyer Emery.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday November 13, 2013 at the Wolffork Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Greer and Rev. Jimmy Logan officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends Tuesday evening November 12, 2013 from 6 to 8 P.M. The family is at the home on Wolffork Church Road Rabun Gap, Georgia.
Family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made, in her memory, to American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692 Dallas, TX 75284-0692 and/or Alzheimer’s Association, Georgia Chapter, 922 East Morris Street, Dalton, GA. 30721.
