Dorothy Seay Speed, 83, Dillard, Georgia.


Dorothy Seay Speed, 83, of Lamb Road, Dillard, Georgia., died Wednesday June 13, 2012 at her residence.
Born in Rabun County January 14, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Walter and Lola Tyler Seay. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She was a retired Textile Worker and was an avid deer hunter and fisherman.
She was preceded in death by two sons; Carroll L. Speed and Raymond C. Speed; brothers Andrew Seay and Daniel L. Seay and by a sister, Edith Seay Speed. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Richard A. Speed.
She is survived by two sons; Arthur Speed and his wife, Jewell of Clayton and David Speed of Clarkesville, three daughters, Pat Gravley and her husband, Bill of Lakemont, Joyce Chastain and her husband, Ernest of Dillard, and Barbara Clark of Clarkesville. One sister, Ellen Gray of West Chester, PA.One granddaughter, Joyclyn Speed reared in the home, twenty one grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren and a special caregiver, Kay York. Several nephews, nieces and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday June 15, 2012 in the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Gravley and Rev. Larry Cannon officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, with Rev. Danny Cannon conducting the graveside service.
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 To 8 P.M.
The family is at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Ernest Chastain on Lamb Road in Dillard, Georgia.
Hunter Funeral Home of Clayton GA. is in charge of arrangements.
