Doris Carpenter

Doris Mason Carpenter 99, of Tiger, Ga passed away Friday August 18, 2023. She was born July 9, 1924, in Macon County, NC to the late Nicholas Mason and Margaret Vinson Mason. Doris was a seamstress and a homemaker. She was a former member of the Homemakers Club of Wolffork and has been a founding member of the Wiley Church of God since 1953.

Doris is survived by a son,  Thurman Carpenter (Kathy) of Helen, Ga; a daughter, Dorothy Webb of Tiger, Ga; daughter in law, Paulette Carpenter of Lakemont, Ga; son in law, Calvin Carter of Clayton, Ga; a granddaughter, Lynn McGahee (Jim) of Glennville, Ga, five grandsons, Darrell Webb (Karen Parker) of Lawrenceville, Ga, Lee Carpenter of Lakemont, Ga, Russell Carpenter of Hollywood, Ga, Daniel Carter (Julie) of Dillard, Ga and Charlie Webb (Fran) of Tiger, Ga; 10 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Doris is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Carpenter; a son, Jim Carpenter; a daughter, Marie Carter; son  in law, Grover Webb Jr.; sisters Lula Mason and Francis Miller; brothers, Albert Mason, Stover Mason and Bob Mason. Doris was the last member of her immediate family.

Funeral services will be 4:00pm Sunday, August 20, 2023, at the Wiley Church of God with the Rev. Adam Wright, Rev. Terry Carver, Alice Carver and Rev. David Port officiating. Burial will follow at the Rabun Memory Park in Tiger, Ga. The family will receive friends from 2:00pm-4:00pm prior to the service at the church.

Pallbearers, Lee Carpenter, Daniel Carter, Charlie Webb, Russell Carpenter, Jim McGahee and Darrell Webb. Honorary pallbearer, Lynn McGahee.
