Mr. Donald Dawson Parsley, of Clayton, Georgia, formerly of Norfolk, Virginia and Kenova, West Virgina passed away peacefully on September 27, 2024, at 3:05 AM, surrounded by his family. Donald was born to Ruby and Jessie Parsley and lived a life marked by service and devotion. He proudly served and retired in the United States Navy dedicating himself to his country and his wife. After his military career, he continued to serve his community by working for the civil service for the remainder of his long career.

Donald is survived by his wife Mary Katherine Parsley. They were to celebrate their 75th wedding anniversary before his passing. He delighted in “taking her around the world” during his time in the Navy. Their bond was a true testament to partnership and devotion.

He is also survived by his son, Greg Parsley; his grandchildren: granddaughters Alison and Selene Parsley, and great grandsons Jaiden Orrego, Jeremiah Tucker, Jordyn Parsley, and Julian Henderson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and Jessie Parsley, and his brother, Morton Parsley.

Don was known to fashion Christmas tree ornaments out of wood and to gift them to his favorite people around town. I am sure some of your remember…

Don’s life was a testament to love, dedication, and service. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Hurt officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM prior to the service. Burial will follow at Wolf Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
