Denver R. Shirley, 70, of Cat Gap Road, in the Persimmon Community, Rt. 2 Clayton, died suddenly and unexpectedly Monday afternoon October 27, 2014 at his home.
He was born February 9, 1944 in Wiley, Georgia., to the late Fred E. Shirley and Bertha Welborn Shirley. He was employed for many years with Rabun Mills and worked in the Timber Industry for many years. He attended the Presbyterian Church.
Besides his parents, Denver was preceded in death by two brothers; Ernest Calvo Shirley and Dalton Eugene Shirley and is survived by his wife, Brenda Hopper Shirley of the home, One son Kenneth Shirley of Wiley, GA., one brother, Ray Shirley (Janet) of Wiley, GA., and nephews, nieces and cousins.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday October 30, 2014 at the Clayton Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Wendel Craker and Rev. Fred Dimaio officiating. Burial will be in the Blalock Cemetery, Clayton, Georgia. The body will be played at the Church at 10:00 A.M. Thursday to lie-in-state.
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday October 29, 2014. The family is at home on Cap Gap Road in the Persimmon Community, Rt. 2, Clayton. Family asks that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made, in his memory, to Hunter Funeral Home, P.O. Box 653 Clayton, GA. 30525 to aid in funeral expenses.
