Dean Green, age 86, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2025, at his home with his wife by his side. He was born on October 24, 1938, in Macon County, NC, to the late William Green and Addie Pearl (Wilson) Green.
Dean was a devoted member of Ole Country Church for over 20 years. A talented musician with a natural gift for playing any stringed instrument, he also wrote songs and performed in a gospel group with his close friends Oliver Rice and Truey McCall. As an accomplished artist, Dean was known for his creativity in designing and painting unique sweatshirts with fabric dye, which he shared with teachers and community members from Arkansas to Alaska. Professionally, he served as a Park Ranger at Black Rock Mountain State Park and Moccasin Creek State Park and worked as a Wildlife Technician for the Department of Natural Resources' Game and Fish Division.
Dean is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Edmonds Green; his son, Joey Dean Green; his grandsons, Wilson Dean Green, Timothy Dinger and Nicholas Dinger; his nephews, Jonathan Edmonds and Haidyn Edmonds; and his mother-in-law, Marie Edmonds. He is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Dean was preceded in death by his two brothers, Paul Green and Don Green, and his sister, Mary Rice.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at Hunter Funeral Home, 423 Warwoman Road, Clayton, GA 30525.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at the Eastside Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with Rev. Delbert McCall, Rev. Marvin Reid, and Rev. Oliver Rice officiating. Burial will follow at Taylors Chapel Cemetery.
