David Speed

David Allen Speed, 55 died Wednesday April 8, 2015 at Georgia Regence University Medical Center, Augusta, Georgia., after a lengthy illness with cancer.

He was born June 4, 1959, in Rabun County to the late Richard A. Speed and Dorothy (Seay) Speed.

He was the sixth of seven children born to Richard and Dorothy Speed. He was of the Baptist Faith, a past member of the Warwoman Volunteer Fire Department, an avid outdoorsman, worked most of his life in the outdoors and a chicken farmer.

He is preceded in death by his parents as well as two brothers, Carroll L. Speed and Raymond C. Speed.

He is survived by two, sons: (Davey) David Jr., and wife, Brittany; Jesse Speed and wife Rachael; both of Cleveland, Georgia. Two grandchildren: Jesse W. Speed, Jr., and Clarissa Speed of Cleveland, Georgia. Four step-children: Melanie, Joycelyn, Amanda, Crystal. One brother, Arthur Speed and wife Jewell of Clayton. Three sisters, Pat Gravley and husband Bill of Lakemont, Georgia., Joyce Chastain and husband Ernest of Dillard, Georgia., Barbara Clark of Sautee, Georgia., Many friends, cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.

The body has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday April 18, 2015., at the old Pleasant Hill Baptist Church on Warwoman, Road, Clayton, Georgia., with Rev. Bill Gravley officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. (The service hour). Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
