Darnce James Shook, 90, of Clayton , Georgia., died Sunday night November 23, 2014 in Mountain View Nursing Home. He was the widower of Lillie Beck Shook.
Born in Hiawassee, Georgia., August 24, 1924, he was the son of the late Dillard and Della Gibson Shook. He was employed in the timber industry for many years and was a member of the Carvers Chapel Baptist Church.
Besides his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Shook and by a daughter, Debbie Speed and by brothers, Lawrence, Lloyd and Dock Shook, and by a sister, Lena English.
He is survived by a son, George Harold Patton of Austell, GA., two brothers; Creed Shook of Lakemont, GA., Robert Shook of Knoxville, TN., three granddaughters, Michele Anderson, Cindy Woods, and Amy Speed and six great grandchildren and by his son-in-law, Johnny Speed of Clayton, GA.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday November 26, 2014 at the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with Rev. Tim McCall officiating. Burial will be in the Pickett Cemetery with Rev. Clay Patton officiating graveside.
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where visitation will be Tuesday evening November 25, 2014 from 6 to 8 P.M. The family is at their respective residences. Following the burial service at Pickett Cemetery family will receive friends at the Carvers Chapel Baptist Church Fellowship Hall for food and fellowship.
