Corbett Jarrett “Stub” Church, 90, of Tiger, GA., formerly of Clarkesville, went home to be with the Lord Sunday October 07, 2012 at Mountain Lakes Medical Center Clayton, GA.
Born in Clarkesville GA., March 2, 1922, he was the son of the late George Thomas Church and Essie Emma Whitworth Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Burrell Church, and by brothers Arvil, Ralph, Aubrey, Nimmo, Claymon and Elmer Church. By sisters Polly Church and Oma Lee Skelton and Florene Church. Nieces and nephews who survive, Phyllis Head, Mervin Lovell, Berry and Anthony Church, Doris Ford, Oleine Finley of Anniston, Alabama. Several other nieces and nephews from Clarkesville and members of Dorothy’s family in Rabun County. Two special friends and care givers Brenda Lunsford and Darlene Carver also survive. Mr. Church was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Mr Church loved the Lord and was a member of the Clarkesville Baptist Church since 1947. He was the owner and operator of Church Tire Company and Church Paving Company for many years. Funeral services will be Wednesday October 10, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Carver and Layman Lloyd Hunter officiating. Burial will be in the Clarkesville City Cemetery in Clarkesville, GA. At 3:45 P.M. The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends Wednesday October 10, 2012 from 12:00 Noon till 2:00 P.M. (The Funeral Hour), but friends may call between 12 Noon Til 4:30 P.M. Tuesday and 12 Noon Wednesday. The family is at their respective Residences.
