Charlotte Laverne Wheeler, 74, of Dunlap Street of Clayton, GA. died Friday September 2, 2011 at her residence. She was born in Fulton County, GA, July 8, 1937 and had lived in Rabun County for the last twenty years. She was a retired Legal Secretary for the government and was a member of the Lakemont Baptist Church for the last ten years.
She was preceded in death by her parents Homer H. (Ted) Harmon and Ruby Ogle Harmon. Also by a sister, Shirley Taylor of Stockbridge, GA., and is survived by a son, Tony and his wife Cathy (“Kit Cat”) Wheeler of Clayton, GA. Two daughters, Sherry Neal and husband Jim of Lima, Peru and Becki Bruce and husband Andy of Douglasville, GA., one brother, Harold Harmon and his wife Sandra of Decatur, Ga. Six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at graveside at Rabun Memory Park, Tiger, GA. at 11:00 AM, Tuesday September 6, 2011 for family and friends, conducted by Rev. Larry Brown.
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home and the family is at the home of her granddaughter, Christine Lovell on Marsen Knob Drive, Mt. City, GA.
There will be no formal visitation but friends may come by the funeral home and sign the guest book between 9:00 AM Monday and 9:00 AM Tuesday.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made, in her memory, to Compassionate Hospice of North Georgia, 1435 Haw Creek Circle, Cumming, GA 30041, or The American Cancer Society, or the American Heart Association, or a Charity of your choice.
