Charles Ray Davenport, 85, of Tiger, GA, husband of Dera “Dee” Harris Davenport died Sunday February 26, 2012 at his home.
Born in Norfolk, Virginia February 13, 1927 he was a son of the late Llewellyn and Lillian Mae Brickhouse Davenport. Mr. Davenport was Retired from the U.S. Air Force having served during the WW II era and served at many different duty stations. He also retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of the Sunnyside Baptist Church in Albany, GA and more recently a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Tiger, GA.
He was preceded in death by Two sisters and 5 brothers.
Survivors in addition to his wife include one son, Jon Davenport of Tiger, GA; two daughters, DeLynn Hoover and her husband Larry of White Settlement, Texas and Lauren Scott and her husband David of Tiger, GA; three brothers, Frank Davenport of Chesapeake, VA, Wayne Davenport of Dillwyn, VA and L.H. Davenport of Tarpon Springs, FL; two sisters, Ruth Brewer of Victoria, TX and Julie Adcock of Flat Rock, NC. Seven grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 2 P.M at Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Cates officiating. Burial will follow in the Liberty Cemetery in Tiger.
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. Wednesday, February 29, 2012. The body will be placed in the church at 1 P.M. Thursday to lie in state until the funeral hour.
The family is at the home on Davenport Lane in Tiger.
