Carolyn Welborn McCrackin

Carolyn Welborn McCrackin, age 86, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2024. Born on September 9, 1938, she was the daughter of the late JD Welborn and Lavada Hicks Welborn. Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank McCrackin, with whom she shared over 60 years of marriage.

A dedicated member of Tiger Baptist Church, Carolyn had a deep love for music and served as the church’s pianist for many years. She was also a devoted educator, teaching in the Rabun County School System for more than 31 years, where she spent the majority of her career teaching 5th grade.

She is survived by her sister, Lehyn Lifsey (Ray); nephew, Raymond Lifsey (Brandy); nieces, Kristen Spencer (Eddie) and Julie Dunson (Carl); as well as several great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her sister, Madge Welborn.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Amedisys Hospice of Toccoa for their compassionate care, and a special thank you to her caregivers, Carolyn Grant and Debra Adams.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Tiger Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Tim Hunnicutt. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow at Tiger Cemetery.
