Benjamin Shelton Bradsher Jr., age 84 of Franklin, NC, formerly of Rabun County, GA passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024, surrounded by his family.
He was born on January 25, 1940, in Jackson County, North Carolina. He was the son of the late Benjamin Shelton and Hazel (Fox) Bradsher. He was married to the love of his life for 63 years, Isabelle Godfrey Bradsher whom he loved dearly.
Benn was a faithful member of the Lords Church at Rabun County Church of Christ in Tiger, GA. He graduated from Sylva High School in 1958, after which he joined the United States Air Force, serving his country with pride and demonstrating true patriotism. After his time in service, he moved back to Sylva to work for the United States Postal Service while becoming a licensed pilot. His love for aviation grew which led him to being hired by the FAA as an air traffic controller at the Atlanta Air Route Traffic Control Center in Hampton, GA.
Benn deeply valued Faith, Family, and Freedom. Among his cherished family traditions was turkey hunting, a practice inherited from his father and one he passed on to his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Isabelle Godfrey Bradsher; one son, Tim Bradsher (Amy) of Winnsboro, TX; one daughter, Ginger Bradsher Johnson (Tom) of Franklin, NC, ; grandchildren, Jackie McGhee (Rick) of Mountain Home Air Force Base, ID , Tyler Morris (Eric) of Caddo Mills, TX, Brandon Johnson (Kara) of Gallatin, TN, Benjamin Johnson (Autumn) of Franklin, NC, and Bradsher Johnson of Franklin, NC; eight great grandchildren; and one brother Gene Bradsher (Brenda) of Sylva, NC.
The family would like to mention caregivers, Heaven Scent, Carol Dollar, Miranda Cook, Becky Sanders, Lauren Crunkleton, Jackie Gass, Joey Gibson, Chandler Ellenburg, Matt Reynolds, and John Dowdle who all had a hand in taking exceptional care of Benn.
A special thank you to Nurse, Liane Koenig Macedo, RN/CM and the staff of Four Seasons Hospice for care during this time.
A Memorial Service will be held at Woodland Church of Christ, 146 Weldon Hall Rd. Sylva, NC 28779, on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at 3:30 PM with Brandon Johnson and McKinley Pate officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:30 PM until service time.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in honor of Benjamin Bradsher to Rabun County Church of Christ, PO Box 266, Tiger, GA 30576.
