Barbara Ann Wilkerson Chastain, 69, of 103 Holly Circle, died Thursday, May 07, 2009 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born in Clayton, GA, she was the daughter of the late Gipsy and Annie McCall Wilkerson. She was the wife of the late Rev. Lonnie Calhoun Chastain, who preceded her in death in 1972.
Mrs. Chastain worked continuously since the age of 15 after leaving school to support her family. She had a long tenure at Swirl, Inc. in Easley, Piedmont, and Pelzer; and had worked most recently at Macshore, Inc. in Greenville. Additionally she worked with Springs Industries in Lyman, and Product Action, Inc. in Duncan.
She was preceded in death by Brothers Mike Wilkerson and Buck Wilkerson . Mrs Chastain is survived by her son Jerry Wayne Chastain and his wife Karen Yates Chastain; and her beloved grandchildren Grayson Calhoun Chastain and Julian Gaines Chastain, all of Kingsport, TN. She also leaves behind a host of good friends, including Marta Toro and her entire family. Along with several Nephews, Nieces and Cousins.
The family will receive friends at Hunter Funeral Home, Warwoman Rd., Clayton, GA on Monday, May 11th, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM with the funeral to follow at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Rabun Memory Park Tiger, GA.
