Deleur Gordon

Deleur Carson Gordon died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on the morning of April 27, 2015.

Born May 27, 1931, in Greene County, Georgia, raised in Athens, Georgia., she spent the last 30 years in lakemont, Rabun County, Georgia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Inez Ayers and Samuel Carson, two brothers, Bubba and Buck Carson, and two sisters, Annie Pearl Coile and Sarah Lee Shelton.

She is survived by her husband, Walter Gordon, daughter, Clair Sherwood Phillips, Son, Billy Sherwood, step daughter, Eva Gordon Hall and their spouses, two nieces, Janice Grant and Shelton Kiernan, one nephew, Skip Shelton, their families and a host of relatives and friends.

She spent the majority of her career in the insurance business retiring in 1993.

A lover of antiques, she had a masterful eye for gardening, decorating and design. She was a devoted servant and elder of the Wiley Presbyterian Church and a Hospice Volunteer for many years. She never met a stranger and made a new friend anywhere she went with her cheerfulness, quick wit and sense of humor. She will be greatly missed.

The Memorial Service celebrating De Gordon’s Life will be held at Wiley Presbyterian Church on Wednesday May 6, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. conducted by Rev. Alice Woods.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Halcyon Hospice Foundation, 1435 Haw Creek Circle, Suite 402, Cumming, GA. 30041.
